Rethink Your Drink
As summer is approaching, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Oral Health Program would like to share with you their Rethink Your Drink
(RYD) Campaign to raise awareness of keeping hydrated and drinking water for better oral health. Drinking too much sugar can cause cavities and increase the risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Soda, sports drinks, energy drinks, sweetened teas, and juice drinks are all sugary drinks. Water is the healthiest drink for the whole body, including the teeth.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Oral Health Program launched its first children's oral health media campaign titled, "Love Your Baby's Teeth." The campaign launched on February 1st to align with National Children's Dental Health Month, and the goal of the campaign was to educate parents and caregivers on how to care for their children's teeth and to lay the foundation for their children's oral health.
The campaign included social media posts, television and radio commercials, grocery and medical office posters, printed exam table paper, and a milestones resource which provides a guide for parents on what oral health milestones to expect at every stage of their child's life.
The campaign materials, including our milestones, can be viewed at https://choosehealthla.com/teeth/ and our a campaign toolkit can be viewed at http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/ohp/Toolkit.htm.
