CDA Mediation Services

A New Member Benefit Supporting Professional Resolution

The California Dental Association has launched CDA Mediation Services, a valuable new member benefit designed to help dentists and patients resolve concerns without litigation.

This program provides a confidential, structured, and professional alternative for addressing issues that may arise during the course of dental care — helping preserve trust, professionalism, and patient relationships.

What Is CDA Mediation Services?

CDA Mediation Services offers a neutral, non-adversarial process that allows patients and providers to discuss concerns with the guidance of a trained dentist mediator.

The program is managed by the CDA Council on Professionalism and Mediation and is intended to:

  • Provide an alternative to formal complaints or legal action
  • Encourage early, constructive resolution
  • Support fair, respectful communication
  • Reduce stress, time, and cost associated with disputes

How the Program Works

  • Mediations are facilitated by CDA-member dentists who have completed specialized mediation training
  • Participation is voluntary and confidential
  • The process focuses on open dialogue and mutually acceptable outcomes
  • Cases are accepted based on program eligibility guidelines

Patients can request mediation directly through CDA, and dentists may also refer eligible situations to the program.

Why This Matters for LADS Members

  • Protects your professional reputation
  • Offers a measured response to patient concerns
  • Reinforces dentistry’s commitment to self-governance and professionalism
  • Demonstrates leadership within organized dentistry

LADS is proud to support this initiative and the members who have stepped forward to help make this program possible.
