Course Description:
This course will explore the most common medical emergencies experienced in the dental office, including the one emergency that most offices are not prepared for, but yet is probably the most likely and most dangerous medical situation. Best practices to other basic medical emergencies will be reviewed. Office readiness protocols and emergency prevention strategies will also be discussed.
Course Objectives:
- Describe the most common medical emergencies experienced in the dental office setting;
- Demonstrate the standard interventions for these common medical emergencies;
- Define key components of the medical emergency kit.
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Yun is a board-certified anesthesiologist who specializes in dental office anesthesia. He obtained his M.D. with honors from the University of Southern California and completed his post-graduate training at the UCLA Center for Health Sciences. He is a Clinical Professor at the Western University of Health Sciences, and an Expert Consultant and Examiner for the Dental Board of California. He is also a Safety Inspector for the American Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF).
He is a Medical Advisory Board member for Healthfirst, the leading provider of emergency medical supplies for dental offices in North America, and a medical consultant for DOCS Education. He is also Co-Course Director for Boston Children's Hospital’s annual conference, Pediatric Sedation Outside the O.R.
He has extensive clinical research experience and as a popular speaker, gives numerous lectures across the country and internationally on patient safety issues.
