DESCRIPTION:Join LADS and the San Gabriel Valley Dental Society for a 3 CEU
live virtual course exploring the evaluation and management of non-odonto
genic orofacial pain\, with a focus on myofascial pain and burning mouth s
 yndrome.Through clinical cases and evidence-based protocols\, participants
will learn systematic examination and documentation techniques\, differen
tial diagnosis strategies\, and multimodal treatment approaches\, includin
g pharmacological management and trigger point therapy.Tuesday\, October 1

will provide attendees with essential skills for evaluating and managing
non-odontogenic orofacial pain disorders. The presentation covers the epid
emiology and prevalence of orofacial pain conditions\, detailed clinical e
xamination techniques including temporomandibular joint and muscle palpati
on protocols\, and the pathophysiology of myofascial pain with trigger poi
nt referral patterns.Special attention will be given to the relationship b
etween temporomandibular disorders and burning mouth syndrome\, including
evidence-based pharmacological management using tricyclic antidepressants.
Through clinical case presentations utilizing a structured documentation
system (SmartNote)\, participants will learn to create comprehensive clini
cal notes\, formulate accurate differential diagnoses\, and develop approp
riate treatment plans incorporating trigger point injections\, home therap
y protocols\, and medication management. Learning OutcomesUpon completion
of this course\, participants will be able to:Perform standardized orofaci
al pain examinations including temporomandibular joint palpation\, range o
f motion assessment\, and identification of myofascial trigger points.Deve
lop accurate differential diagnoses for non-odontogenic orofacial pain by
systematically evaluating nociceptive versus neuropathic mechanisms and ex
cluding odontogenic and neurovascular causes.Apply evidence-based pharmaco
logical management using tricyclic antidepressants\, including appropriate
drug selection\, dosing protocols\, and adverse effect monitoring.Documen
t comprehensive clinical assessments using structured tools that capture c
hief complaints\, detailed history\, examination findings\, and multimodal
  treatment plans. Speaker:Anette Vistoso Monreal\, DDS\, MS\, DABOP\, F
