 osis of the jaw remains a complex topic that can be challenging for the tr
 eating dentist. As cancers rates rise in adults under fifty\, the prevalen
 ce of antiresorptive bone therapy and radiation therapy to the head and ne
 ck region are becoming commonplace within the general patient population. 
 Both of these therapies significantly impact the provision of dental care 
 and patient management. The dental team plays an integral role in preventi
 ng osteonecrosis for these high-risk patients. Clinicians are hesitant to 
 treat these patients in private practice and often refer them to hospital-
 based programs. This presentation will describe how the dental team can co
 nfidently and effectively manage these patients in their office\, and ulti
 mately how the dentist is an integral part of their medical care.BioDr. Re
 becca Dayanim studied French Literature \nand Francophone studies at UCLA 
 where she received BA. She attended UCLA\n School of Dentistry\, then subs
 equently completed General Practice \nResidency at the West Los Angeles VA
 . She has worked in both private \npractice and non-profit community clini
 cs throughout her career until \nshe transitioned to full time academia as
  the Program Director of the \nHerman Ostrow USC GPR and Hospital Dentistr
 y at LA General Medical \nCenter. Dr. Dayanim serves as the Chief of Denti
 stry at LA General \nMedical Center and Co-Chair in the DHS Dentistry Work
 group in LA \nCounty.  Dr. Dayanim works with the GPR and OMFS residents p
 roviding \ncomprehensive care to patients ranging from oral cancer/radiati
 on\, \nintellectual disability\, medically complex\, and trauma. She is \n
 passionate about resident education using classic techniques and modern \n
 technologies. At LAGMC\, Dr. Dayanim works closely with ENT\, Oncology\, \
 nand Radiation/Oncology teams to provide interdisciplinary care and \nopti
 mize the dental care and oral health for cancer patients. Aside from\n her
  dedication to dentistry\, she is also passionate about philanthropy \nwit
 h leadership roles in nonprofit organizations. Dr. Dayanim enjoys \nmainta
 ining an active and healthy lifestyle and became a certified \nPilates Ins
 tructor in 2015 which has translated to healthy ergonomics in\n the dental
  practice.
